May 2016 TAG Talk Series


On Sunday, May 22 at 2:30 pm TAG Members, Phyllis Jacobs and Cathy Wilkin, will discuss the work in their shows: “My Favorite Things,” and “Byzantium,” along with their ideas about art in everyday life.

PHYLLIS JACOBS, a Baltimore native and longtime resident of the Washington area, lives in Frederick, Maryland. She holds a B.A. from the University of Maryland, a B.F.A. from MICA (the Maryland Institute College of Art), an M.F.A from Indiana University. and is a longtime member of The Artists Gallery. Exhibited frequently in Washington galleries and regularly at The Artists Gallery, she taught art history and drawing at Indiana University and was on the degree faculty of the Atlanta College of Art. Her paintings have been seen frequently in shows at the Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center, Frederick, MD. She is the 2011 recipient of a Pollock-Krasner award.

CATHY WILKIN works in mixed media on canvas. Wilkin received her MFA in painting from Kent State University. Her work has been exhibited widely from San Diego, The Museum of The Living Artist - San Diego Art Institute, Huntington Art Museum, Huntington, WV, the Keane Mason Art Gallery, NYC. Her work is in several permanent collections including The Cultural Center, Charleston, WV, The Parkersburg Fine Art Center, Parkersburg, WV, and Shepherd University, Shepherdstown WV. A recent solo exhibition of her work was on display in March 2016 at the Parkersburg Fine Arts Center.
