UNDERCURRENT—Since the summer of 2010, my husband Mike and I have spent time kayaking on short trips in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. and on longer trips to New England and the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Time on the water, whether on the Potomac River in Maryland, Lake Frederick in Virginia, as well as Acadia National Park in Maine or on the coast of Nova Scotia provides a different perspective on the world. This past summer we lived for a week on a small island off the south-west coast of Nova Scotia. Life on Bell Island is slow. No cell phone, internet or TV to connect you to your other world. Living on a peninsula with water on three sides and two kayaks for transportation, life shifts to a different place and time when water was the center of life. This show is an exploration of that watery world, the flora and fauna that inhabit it, as well as those creatures who soar above it.
