"Prayers for Color"
They say that art reflects its times. I was caught by surprise when I realized this body of work smacked of deep feelings I had been ignoring— disenchantment, isolation, disconnectedness. However, call me an optimist, naive or just plain stupid, I still remain hopeful. Bits of color are brought into the black and white paintings as a metaphor for hope and light. Color lifts us out of the darkness and gives us strength. Color is used to build momentum, a momentum that is powerful and life altering. Color can heal.
