Paula Rubin-Wexler

Painting

Paula Rubin-Wexler has been painting landscapes on location at the Eastern Shore in Maryland, Elbow Cay, in the Bahamas, and on Maine’s Acadian Coast — and quite literally in her own back yard. Her award-winning work is often described as having a compelling zen-like qualitiy.

Rubin-Wexler’s goal is to create an awareness or understanding of the moods, the atmosphere, and the colors of the day. Using direct observation, many of her paintings are ‘alla prima,’ done in one sitting.  Her paintings are a visual response to what she perceives -- and resonates with.

She is always responding to the essence of the moment and her greatest hope is to leave the viewer with the same sense of tranquility that she felt while painting in "Plein Air."  Originally from New York City, Rubin-Wexler enjoyed a successful career in advertising, opening her own agency and producing award-winning campaigns. She now resides in Frederick, Maryland and her work is in private collections in California, New York, Delaware, Cape Cod, Maryland, Virginia and Germany.
