In October TAG/The Artists Gallery will feature two solo exhibitions.

NANCY MCLOUGHLIN: “Tables, Chairs”
“Almost every day we sit in a chair, often at a table,” McLoughlin says.  “Our thoughts are about why we are there, but somewhere in our subconscious we are interacting with the table and the chair. They are alive in their own way, witnessing the noisy meeting, the meal, the empty room.  These thoughts have inspired me to create this series of paintings and drawings.”

Nancy McLoughlin is a long-time resident of Harper's Ferry, W.Va.  She received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Her work appears in numerous private collections.

JOAN TARBELL PLATO: “We Want Clean Water!”
Inspired by water and her beloved State of Maryland,  Joan Tarbell Plato’s show depicts ocean, lakes, streams and their myriad inhabitants.  Moved by recent events, Plato merges her love of poetry with visual art and creates writings and art around events that have damaged our waters and threatened our environment.
Her love of nature with its rhythms and magic can be felt throughout her works.  “My show speaks for those who cannot: birds, plants and sea life,” she says.

Plato, an artist for over twenty years, studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and with several internationally known workshop artists. She is a juried member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society and the National League of American Pen Women. Her art is held in both private and corporate collections.
