Linda Constant Robinson

Painting

Since moving to Frederick, MD, 14 years ago, I have focused on producing a full body of work that is expressive in style with bold  color, lyrical abstraction, still life composition and figurative themes. My greatest teachers are Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso, Hockney, O’Keefe and Alice Neel.  In the muse series, faces, florals and still life are the design elements. The Inca Series paintings were inspired by trips to South America where the powerful history of native peoples was the catalyst for “Inca Primavera,” ,”Inca Virgin”, and “Pachacuti Meets Cassandra.”

Born in New Orleans, I studied fine art at the University of Southwestern LA; earned a BA in Fine Art and Arts Administration from Rider University, NJ; and completed a fellowship in arts administration at Harvard. I held leadership positions at the NJ State Council on the Arts; the National Endowment for the Arts; The Hunterdon Art Museum, NJ, and was founding director of the James A. Michener Art Museum (Doylestown, PA).  Under my leadership, the Hunterdon and Michener museums became accredited and respected art museums that produced major art exhibitions. My paintings have been shown in AZ, AK, MD, NJ, LA and WV; and are in collections in the US and Italy.
